No region in New York has seen growth at the pace of Orange County in recent years. Along with Orange County's population, the arts across the entire Hudson Valley region are booming. Most recently in this area has come the addition of Dia: Beacon in Dutchess County. This important contemporary art museum opened in 2003. Also that same year, a little further up the waterway in Annandale, is architect Frank Gehry's new Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College.
Because of its close proximity to Manhattan, Orange County is a likely place for many professional artists to settle. Many who live here are Broadway artists, stage managers, costume designers and other professional visual artists to name a few. They can easily commute via mass transit to their primary jobs.
Many of us who are artists look forward to the challenge of making the city of Newburgh the arts and cultural hub on the Hudson.
